The Chinese have long believed that there are different kinds of energies around us - in the landscapes, mountains and water. These energies, or Qi, exist all around us and have the power to affect our overall well-being. These energies may be very good for us and conducive to our happiness and prosperity, or they may not be as good and could even perhaps bring misfortune upon us.
This is where Feng Shui comes in. Feng Shui, literally meaning ‘Wind and Water’, is a honed technique we can utilize to control the Qi around us and hence make it work to our benefit. This is why the essentials of Feng Shui is actually a detailed study of our environment and how the Qi affects us and our living spaces.
If we can discern the energies in our environment through Feng Shui, we then have the information in our hands to chose to live in good locations in order to receive good Qi. Our health, relationship ties, happiness and material wealth will all flourish accordingly. If we do not have the knowledge of Feng Shui, we may inadvertently choose to live and work where Qi is not as conducive - this, then, decreases the chances of us achieving the best in life and could even trigger misfortune.
Feng Shui, time-honored and time-tested, has been utilized by the Chinese for centuries both in the home and the office space for prosperity, good fortune and life longevity. With proper skill and usage, Feng Shui can be a formidable and even life-changing tool we can all use to reach and maintain our maximum life potential.
